Permanent Best Management Practices (BMPs) are employed to
prevent or minimize erosion and sedimentation before, during,
and after soil and vegetation disturbance. BMPs serve to compensate
for land development within the Tahoe Basin. The appropriate
BMPs for a site will depend on the site's characteristics;
including slope, soil type, and present condition, as well
as the use of the site. For instance, BMPs for a large commercial
area with a parking lot will be quite different than the BMPs
for a campground or a residential dwelling.
